Example of interdependence between surface waters and ground waters

Goran Gjetvaj, Goran Lončar, Davor Malus, Eva Ocvirk

Abstract

According to respective design documents, The Danube - Sava multipurpose canal and the regional water supply system for Eastern Slavonia are planned at a relatively small distance from one another. As both systems cut through the same water bearing layers, the possibility of their hydraulic connection and interdependence has been analyzed using a three-dimensional numerical model of ground water flow. Possible changes in the quantity and quality of ground water in the water bearing area are also studied
